Class Split Information - Please see the attachment below which further explains this.

Baslow St. Anne's C of E Primary School has five classes from Reception (EYFS 2) to Year 6. Therefore, seven year groups have to be supported over five classes, meaning that Year 1 and Year 4 children are split between two of our classes. We split by age, unless there are specific circumstances, which we then discuss with parents.

  • Younger Year 1 children will carry out their Year 1 in the Tigers, Class 1 and older Year 1 children will carry out their Year 1 in the Leopards, Class 2.
  • Younger Year 4 children will carry out their Year 4 in the Lions, Class 3 and older Year 4 children will carry out their Year 4 in the Pumas, Class 4.

The split is made once we know our up and coming numbers for the September intake, so the amount in each class each year will vary. Year groups that are split (Year 1 + 4) work together as a pure year group as much as possible, eg: phonics, residentials, trips, KS1 science, maths, Wider Opportunities learning the violin and other times, wherever we can.
